This year, I visited India for the first time. My husband is Indian, and I come from a vibrant Kurdish culture where handmade products are a cherished tradition in my homeland, Kurdistan, Iraq. During our trip to India, I was captivated by the country’s rich heritage. Everywhere I looked, I saw people working with such pride and love for their craft, creating pieces that reflect their culture and skill.

As I explored India, I found myself drawn to the beautiful handmade products that tell stories with every stitch. This experience inspired me to start a small business, Riwaayat, which means “tales” in both Indian and Arabic. My vision for Riwaayat is to share these stories of skilled artisans—men and women whose work deserves to be celebrated in homes around the world.
